Winter has well and truly arrived here in Champoluc with some of the best December skiing conditions that we can remember. Long may it last through to the Spring.
There are off piste, ski touring and Mindful skiing weeks all on the programme for March and April 2020 so if you are interested in any of these please take a look at the web site for details. I am having more enquiries this year for bespoke weeks of off piste skiing staying in mountain Refuges, something which the Monterosa is ideally suited for. There are many Refuges on the mountain and a large selection of high and medium altitude Refuges are found here, some basic ‘hard core’ establishments and others quite luxurious, but mountain refuges all the same – the ultimate ski in and ski out with fantastic food, wine and views. Quite spectacular really. If this excites you and you have a group of friends who are up for the adventure then drop me an email and I’ll try and organise something specifically for your group. You won’t be disappointed!
Other news is that earlier this year I was invited to contribute a chapter to a significant publication called Mindful Heroes – ‘stories of journeys that changed lives.’ I was pretty chuffed to be asked to be honest and the outcome of my efforts is a chapter on Mindful Learning and Coaching in Alpine Skiing. The chapter is available free from the Mindful Mountains web site and will be of particular interest to ski coaches and skiers who are interested in mindfulness and how the principle of mindfulness can be applied to skiing. For those of you whom are mindfulness practitioners the whole book I’m sure will resonate with you, details on how to purchase the book are given on the web site.
I have renamed all of our summer and autumn weeks to Earthly Retreats as you can read from the web site. I have followed my heart with this development as I am greatly drawn to organising Retreats where people can join together and experience the healing powers of the outdoors, mountains and nature. It gives me great pleasure to provide events where the stress of daily life can be left behind and instead, enter a space where there is time to be calm, rejuvenate and renew one’s energy in the company of likeminded others. I do hope you like and will join us on a Retreat sometime soon.
Well that’s all of my news for now; stay well and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
