These two, week-long hiking Tours through the Monterosa cover some beautiful mountain terrain, forest trails and views of the higher placed glaciers, the Matterhorn and the Monte Rosa Range. The routes are easy to medium graded and suited to walkers in good physical shape and used to walking over hilly rough terrain.
The Tours move through, in a figure of 8, the Valley D’Ayas, into the Valtournenche valley and then dropping into the Gressoney valley before heading back to Champoluc where the tours begin. They are divided into daily stages of around 5/6 hours, following mountain paths and pose no greater difficulty then shorter stretches over stony ground and around rocky outcrops. Should they be required, there are exit routes along the way where transport back to Champoluc, can be arranged. We will carry belongings required for the week with us, there being storage in Champoluc where items not required for the Tour can be kept for the week.
We are accommodated in different comfortable mountain refuges each night where traditional Aosta Valley dinner and breakfast is provided. Packed lunches can be purchased at each Refuge. The Refuges have dormitory rooms, of 4 / 6 beds, with some of the Refuges providing a bathroom for each bedroom and others shared bathrooms.
The June Tour begins and ends on a Saturday and the July Tour on a Sunday. We can accommodate and arrange airport transfers for other days if you wish to spend a few days in Champoluc before or after the Tour. John Arnold will be leading the Tours which can include informal teaching of mindfulness and meditations if you wish.
